Optimism

Optimism is wonderful. It’s so great to be around people that are optimistic. Even at times, like the world is facing right now, there are people who steadily believe that everything is all is going to go well in the end. I believe that I’m one of them. I got the idea to write about optimism when I wrote the article about Happiness.

„Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.“

Helen Keller

But how can one be happy when all his surroundings seem to scream out the opposite? The universe seems to be sending you all but negative vibes?  Just remember that you always have a choice. You can choose the way you are going to look at any given situation. So there is really one thing that you have to do. Make a decision. It is really that simple. From what perspective am I going to look at whatever situation I find myself in? Is the glass half-full or half-empty?  This choice is in fact about two things, love or fear. It may seem odd but let’s look at this a little better. If you have pessimist look on any given thing of circumstance in your life it’s based on a fear that you’ve built up in your own mind. On the other hand if you look at these things you are sending out positive vibes and those vibes are just one form of love.

It may be difficult at time to be optimistic, but well all comes together it’s much easier to live that way and you probably increase the possibility of a positive result. Have faith in what you do, add some optimism, hope and confidence. Soon you find yourself on your way to achieving your hearts desires.

Living Success

To become successful you need clear goals. You need them to know if you’re going in the right direction. You can look at my post How to set Goals? Where do you want to go? If you throw away any ideas you might have about whether it’s possible or not, or if you can or can’t achieve it, where do you want to go? How does your dream life look like?

I found a brilliant quote from Albert Einstein who says; “Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value.” This is the core of what I believe about success. How can I become more valuable? If I try my best to increase my value, every other aspect of success will follow. That’s why I have goals. They show me where I want to go. When I achieve them, one by one, I become more and more successful. Simple, isn’t it?

The positive side of anger

280bAnger. Most people look at anger as something negative. Is Anger just a Negative emotion that can’t lead to anything good? Anger is a state of mind that may show some negative symptoms like feeling bad, having destructive thoughts of yourself or others and so on.

Anger has a positive side also. It is an enormous source of energy. And this Energy can provide us with the power to do things that we may not be able to do under normal circumstances. The question is whether you can channel this energy in a positive direction. For example, we may say that Dr. Martin Luther King was angry about the injustice of segregation, but he mastered to put the energy of anger into a path to fight for human rights. That energy got him further than most before him.

But how can you control anger? There are probably many ways to control your anger, but many of them aim to delete anger from one’s life. In my opinion this is a long shot and can be hard to do. Anger is a part of our lives that cannot be separated from the whole. I think it’s best to ask yourself this question; how can I use this energy source for good?

Some possibilities are small things like using the energy flow to work on your own health. For example, go out running or other workout that you may like. If you think big there are probably a lot of things in your near environment that you may offer your help to. So my advice to you is to stop looking at anger as something negative and start using it for the greater good.

How to set Goals?

070707-002Goals are very important to most people. For me they are important because of two things. Firstly, they lead me in the right direction and secondly they boost my ambition to grow my life and be a better person. Of course there are many other benefits to goal-setting, like knowing that you’re in the right path to your dreams and few things beats the feeling of achieving your goals.

Someone said once; Goals are just dreams with a date. I do believe that’s correct. Goals and dreams are alike in many ways. They are both very personal, differ widely from person to person and usually shows something that a person’s desires.

In Buddhism setting your goals are very important. You challenge yourself in order to grow your life in every aspect. Before every year ends I sit down with my goals and see what I have accomplished and also set new goals for the upcoming year.

But how do set your goals?

There are many ways to set a goal and I want to share what I’ve learned about goals. What qualities does a good goal have?

  • They are measurable. You have to be able to measure your goal. For example, if you set a goal to save some amount of money you can easily see if you are on the right path or not.
  • They are realistic. Set your goal that is realistic to you. They are reachable but not so easy to achieve that it isn’t any challenge for you.
  • They have dates. For me, setting a goal without a date is only a dream. Set a date on your dream and voila, you have a goal

You also have to believe in your goals. If you can believe it and conceive it you can achieve it!

Interesting things to do

One news-less day a week. News can be very addictive, like so many things that aren’t good for us. The negativity flowing in the news can be so overwhelming it can be hard to see the bright side of life when you are constantly following the news

Call someone that you haven’t heard from for a while. Can be very fun to catch up, go down the memory-lane, it’s also a chance to start up something new.

Write poetry. It doesn’t really matter what you write about, you are probably not going to publish it yet do go for it. And hey, if the writing doesn’t go all that well you’ll have a great reason to laugh

Smile to someone you don’t know. It can be incredible how much a simple little smile can do. How often, when you are feeling a little down, and you get a smile from someone, it brightens your day. Give and you will receive.

Laugh in front of a mirror. A fantastic exercise. You can really forget all your troubles and time flies by, bulletproof way to lift yourself up

Sing with some good music. Excellent way to let yourself go. It doesn’t matter whether you can sing or not. Just sing

Try something new. Something you haven’t tried before. It helps you in many ways; you’ll try something new, widen your horizons, loosens you boundaries and if all goes well you end up with a new hobby

Spend your day off doing nothing. This one is maybe not for everybody, but most of us should be able to try this at least a part of the day. Stay in your Pajamas and relax. No tasks, phonecalls or anything like that

Go out to the nature. And be silent. Enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature. The singing birds, waterfalls or the flowing waves.

Make a to-do list. Just For the day. And reward yourself by putting a funny stamp on it when you complete your tasks. You can use a star or perhaps a smiley face

Go swimming. You’ve got to love it. And it’s good for you to.

What do you do to make life more fun?
