Happiness comes from within you; therefore you cannot find happiness anywhere else, not even here on the internet. I want to give you some pointers that will hopefully lead you to the right direction. I can give you this advice only because I have tried these things and they have worked for me.
Here are some pointers I’ve found that work for me:
Be optimistic:
Practice optimism, life is always easier when you are optimistic. Make a conscious decision to be optimistic. Focus on the good things in your life.
Live one day at a time:
This day is really the only day that you have. Think about it, today is the only day that you have some control over. Every day comes to you full of opportunities, so grab them.
Meditate:
As I said before I meditate on a daily basis. I try to meditate in the morning. It helps me prepare for the day as well giving me clearer focus on my daily activities.
I am thankful:
Each night, when I’m lying on my bed, I thank for everything that day brought me. I thank for everything, „good and bad“. If you want to label things (experience) as good and bad, also be grateful for the bad things because they will give you good lesson if you choose to use it that way. Be thankful of the great things you already have in your life, if you say you don’t have any, you’re wrong. For example, if you are reading this you probably have eyes that work, right?
Challenge yourself:
Set your goals and follow them. If you reach them, great! If not you can always try again.
Be active:
Try keeping yourself busy, do not overload your day with tasks though! Great way to stay active is to work on your goals.
Help others:
It’s amazing how much it can give when you help others. It doesn’t have to be much, just a random deeds here and there. It gives you so much, and like the old saying; what goes around, comes around”! Give and you will receive.
I try to follow these points the best that I can and I consider myself a pretty happy guy. I wanted to share with you these pointers and hopefully they will help you in some way.
What is maybe the most precious thing we have in life? It might be the simplest thing that we often take for granted; Time.
Time gives us space to grow in so many ways. Our body matures and our mind develops and we get new ideas about life as time goes by. We watch our friends change, our children grow, and our parents mature. Time seems to give us so much and at the same time take so much away from us. Because every valuable moment indicates that there is less time left, the more you get to know someone the less time you have left with them (at least in this lifetime). We never know how much time we have, just what the average person has. So why not use the time we have for what’s important to us. Sit down and consider what is really important to you.
How are you spending your time?
How would you like to spend your time?
Are you spending your time on what you would love to do? If you are then perhaps you don’t need to read any further, just continue enjoying life. But if you don´t spend your time doing what you would like to be doing or not enough time anyway, consider this.
Ask yourself a simple question: What are the things I don´t like doing, but still take up my time? Unfulfilling job, school, chores or friends I don´t really like?
Then you need to ask yourself: Are these things benefitting me?
· Am I working hard to get the raise I want and then the job will be more exciting?
· Am I studying to get the degree I want for a job I look forward to?,
· Are these chores something that make me feel good afterwards for example to take the trash out, clean the floors and wash the dishes?
If you don´t feel that you get any benefits or that the benefits are just to small, then take time to consider if you should make a change.
Remember that you ALWAYS have a choice, you can choose to stay where you are or move on and make a change. You don´t have the power to change others or the environment. But you have the amazing power to change yourself (and sometimes your surrounding change with you).
It´s not about every moment beeing fun and exiting and if not just skip what your doing. A good marriage/relationship can have it´s ups and downs but they would not have liked to miss a moment and the hard times might have made the couple stand together and the love stronger. Sometimes it´s the hard times that make the best memories.
The key issue is maybe that love is often measured in time. For your children the time you have together is the same as love, not the big toys to make up for lost time. The same goes for your spouce, friends and parents.
It´s your responsibility to spend your time right, the way you consider being right. If you’re not doing what you love the most, then at least do something that’s worth doing.
Make the most of your time use it where it counts don’t waste it.
I started meditating about four years ago and ever since then I’ve been developing my meditation techniques. At first I felt rather weird sitting alone and doing nothing and my mind took it’s time getting used to it. Little by little I got better at meditating and started to see some kind of progress.
My goal with this article is to help those who want to try out meditation and point out some of the basics that I’ve learned. So let’s get started:
- Sit or lay down, what is most comfortable for you
- Make sure that there are no interruptions, turn of everything that can interrupt you while you meditate. Phones, cell, computer speakers and so on.
- Once you start meditating concentrate on your breathing.
- Let everything come that wants to come. Don’t struggle against your mind. It is highly likely once you first start to meditate that you mind starts overflow itself with various thoughts. It’s normal, the mind is just getting used to the idea of meditation.
- Set your time. How long are you going to meditate for? Don’t start with too long time at first because the chances are if you do then you won’t last and give up.
There are many good things that you gain practicing meditation. Firstly, tranquility. Your thoughts become clearer and more focused in your everyday tasks. You get more control over your mind. You can control the mind that often seems to overflow and clutter itself with thoughts about things of no importance. Unfortunately, we let our mind overflow with negative thoughts which can lead to anxiety, lack of concentration and so on. This leads me to my next point, positive thinking. By opening your mind to positive thinking you are more likely to conceive and believe your goal, and if you don’t have goals, meditation may help you to find goals. With better control over your mind and positive thinking it’s a lot easier to do your visualization.
I love to meditate in the morning, around six o’clock. Because, then I can prepare myself for the day. Also it’s great because very few are up so I don’t have to be worried about interruptions.
I know it’s not exactly something new or fresh ways to meditate, but I know they work. So good luck
- Be Honest! Yes, it can be tempting and may look simple at the time to put out „white lies“, but usually it comes right in your back some way or another. Good sentence I once heard some time ago; Don’t lie, then you don’t have to remember anything
- Organize your day, week and month. It may quite a work in the beginning when you are setting it up and getting used to it. But in the long run, it makes life far less chaotic.
- Clean up. Right after you’re done with dinner, wash the plates or put them into the dishwasher. I know, believe me, how tempting it can be to say to yourself; “I’ll do it in a while or perhaps in the morning” but the feeling of a clean house is wonderful. If you live alone it’s not complicated, all the work is yours, but hey, the mess is also yours, right?
- Make a to do list. Do it daily, my choice is in the evening because then I can go soundly to sleep and I don’t have to do it in the morning, lot of things to do then anyway Also then you have enough time to prioritize what things have to be done first and what can wait. Then in the morning go over the list and start
- Face your financial status. It’s unbelievable the good influence it has on you to know your financial status. We tend to do way to much out of our financial status. But no matter how your status is, it’s always better to know so you can start improving it
- Declutter your wardrobe! This is a very powerful tip to simplify your life. Give away or sell the stuff you never use. Do you use everything in there? Do you like everything there? Be honest with yourself and throw away the thought “I might have to use this sometime”, and believe me that thought will rise a lot.
- Everything has its home! This is quite simple, you just decide where you keep different things for example the bills go into this box, I keep pens in this drawer and the hair products in that shelf. When everything has its place you know where to get it and put it so they are less likely to pile up in a mess somewhere in the house.
- Shop groceries once a week. Me and my wife just recently started doing this. And boy, what a huge difference! We sit down every Tuesday and make a list of what we need and what we want, after we’ve made the menu for the following week. We don’t have many boundaries aside from our weekly food budget. We follow two simple rules, only shop once a week and just buy what is on the list! Good moneysaving trick, timesaving and also good for the environment
If I would give you advice considering health without knowing anything about you, I would say: take some time and listen to your body. What do I mean by that? Well the funny thing is that often our body knows what is and is not good for us but we just don´t listen.
Write a food diary for a week, where you write down what you ate and then how you felt directly after and then 30 minutes after. And really be honest with yourself, you might have gotten used to some cramps or pain that are plaguing you after a meal. You will soon see what effect the different types of food have on you.
Bad effects might be:
· Cramps
· Uneasy stomach
· Chest burn
· Feeling tired or hyper active
· Headache
· Feeling that you are not full even though you have eaten a full meal or feeling to full so that you can hardly move
Good effects might be:
· Feeling at ease and in balance
· Full of energy
If you find something that does not makes you feel good after a meal. Then the next step is taken by writing a food diary for another week and skip the types of food that have a bad effect on you. Consider the difference and find out what makes you feel energized and full after a meal. Then continue developing your meals after your body’s hints.
This is just a simple way for you to learn how to listen to your body. Other ways to be more conscious is, by example, to do yoga exercises and/or breathing and meditate.
There are many ways to be healthier and especially to eat healthier. You can find a lot on the internet or just listen to people that are saying this and that is not good for you. They are mostly right but if do it because you are supposed to or because someone tells you then you might not get the same benefits as you get by realizing it by yourself an feeling the effect.
The key element to a healthy diet is to have a variable and exiting menu with average sized dishes. Also don’t forget to enjoy it, good health also comes from a good state of mind.
Good Luck!
